Computers have become an integral part of our daily lives. We use them to calculate, listen to music, read the news, communicate with friends and family, enjoy leisure time, and share data worldwide. The IT department at Largy College recognizes these diverse uses and actively seeks to equip students with the knowledge and digital skills necessary to effectively use everyday technology.
As a Microsoft Incubator School, Largy College is at the forefront of integrating technology into education. We utilize the Microsoft Package to teach students digital literacy through Microsoft Word, Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Teams, and OneNote. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of internet safety.
Our students participate in the DreamSpace Ambassadors program and STEM Passport DreamSpace workshops, which provide hands-on experiences in cutting-edge technology and innovation. Through these initiatives, students gain valuable insights and skills that prepare them for future careers in technology.
In Transition Year, students have the opportunity to learn both basic and advanced coding. They also participate in various competitions, including VEX Robotics, where they design, build, and program robots to compete in exciting challenges. These experiences foster creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
