TY Carol Singing and Warm for Winter Campaign
December was a busy month for TY students. As part of the Transition Year Programme and as a reward for the work done to date, good behaviour and attendance, a trip has been organised to Dundonald International Ice Bowl. The group had a wonderful day and enjoyed bowling in the morning followed by ice skating in the afternoon. A great day was had by all!
The Largy College Choir & TY students sang Christmas songs outside The Sacred Hearts Nursing Home for the residents. It was such an uplifting celebration in difficult COVID times. Thank you to Ms Sherry for organising & to Ms Farrelly & especially Ms Dunwoody for your musical talents.
Ms McGoverns 4th year chemistry students had fun with their entries to the OChemistree competitions. All entries included the use of recycled materials to make decorations. Tree one included decorations made from old phone cords, cut up football etc. Tree two combined Chemistry and global warming with the molecules associated with it hanging as bobbles (and a very sad snowman). Well done to all involved.
TY Students participated in the Largy College Annual TY Christmas Cake Competition. Well done to all the students who entered and especially to Eva Hannon who won the competition, followed by Orla McKiernan in 2nd place and Kayla in 3rd place. Thank you to Brid Teevan, Pastry Chef in The Olde Post Inn for delivering a workshop to our students and to Ms Lynch for her hard work and continued guidance to the students.
Thank you to the wider Largy College community for donating coats to the Warm for Winter Campaign which is run by Paddy Fryers a former student of Largy College. The coats have now all been distributed out to those in need. A warm thank you to TY Students who were involved in organising the online tutor class, informing students about the campaign and to the TY students who were involved in the collection of the coats.
